Summary

Fort Wayne revoked Veo’s permit effective Sept. 4 2023, so no shared scooters are allowed; the city has since shelved new scooter ordinances, meaning only privately owned devices operating under Indiana traffic laws may ride for now.

Detailed Information

After four years of letting Veo run up to 500 stand-up and seated scooters downtown, Fort Wayne’s Right-of-Way Department pulled the company’s permit on Aug. 8 2023 over repeated complaints about reckless riding and parking. The city denied Veo’s appeal on Aug. 17 and ordered every scooter removed by Sept. 4, leaving no licensed shared fleet in town. Community Development officials confirmed in October 2025 that they are not drafting replacement ordinances after earlier proposals (age limits, fines, pet bans) died in committee, so today only privately owned scooters may operate—and they have to obey existing Indiana traffic rules plus park considerately, because any new shared operator would need a fresh permit the city has no plans to issue.
