DIY Guide: Transform Your Razor Scooter Into an Electric Ride

Take your Razor scooter game to the next level by making it electric. Learn how to modify your manual scooter into an electric one with these easy steps.

Step 1: Gather the necessary materials
Before you begin, collect all equipment needed for the modification:

  • Razor scooter (foldable model preferred)
  • Electric scooter conversion kit (ensure it is compatible with your Razor scooter model)
  • Allen wrench
  • Pliers
  • Crescent wrench
  • Small screwdriver
  • Wire cutter and stripper
  • Electrical tape
  • Zip ties

Step 2: Remove the rear wheel
Using the Allen wrench, remove the rear wheel from your Razor scooter. This step is essential to prepare it for the electric motor installation.

Step 3: Install motor and drive wheel
Attach the motor to the scooter frame using the provided bracket from the conversion kit. Ensure the motor is securely fastened and that it aligns with the drive wheel. Replace the rear wheel with the drive wheel that comes with the kit.

Step 4: Attach the sprocket
Fit the sprocket onto the rear wheel axle and secure with the supplied nuts and bolts. Make sure the sprocket lines up with the motor for smooth chain operation.

Step 5: Install the chain
Loop the chain over the motor drive and rear wheel sprocket. Tighten until there is minimal slack. Use a chain tensioner if necessary.

Step 6: Wire the motor and throttle
Following the instructions from your conversion kit, wire the motor to the throttle and battery pack. Cut, strip, and connect wires using the wire cutter and stripper. Cover exposed wires with electrical tape and secure with zip ties.

Step 7: Mount the battery and throttle
Attach the battery to the scooter frame, ideally close to the motor for easy wiring. Use the provided clips or brackets from the kit. Position the throttle on the scooter handlebar and secure with screws or zip ties.

Step 8: Test the scooter
Fully charge the battery and give your new electric Razor scooter a test ride. Test the throttle response and brake function. Ensure all connections are secure before going for a longer ride.

Congratulations! You have now successfully learned how to make your Razor scooter electric. Enjoy your upgraded scooter and the newfound speed at your disposal.
