Who Invented Electric Scooters? A Brief History
Electric scooters have become increasingly popular in recent years, revolutionizing urban transportation and providing a convenient mode of travel for millions around the world. But who are the brilliant minds behind this innovative creation? The history of electric scooters can be traced back to 1915 when Autoped Corporation started mass-producing their popular gasoline-powered Autoped scooter, often considered as the first-ever scooter. However, it was not until the late 20th century that electric scooters started to dominate the market. In 1996, Peugeot introduced the S55 scooter, and since then, its popularity has only grown, with companies like Razor and GoPed contributing to the expansion of the electric scooter industry. Modern electric scooters designed for adults, such as the ones offered by Bird and Lime, are the brainchildren of Chinese inventor and entrepreneur Chen Yueliang, who founded the company Ninebot, which acquired Segway in 2015. Today, electric scooters continue to evolve, becoming more efficient and eco-friendly, and changing the way we navigate our cities.
