Electric Scooter Showdown: Apollo City 2022 vs. NIU KQi2 Pro Comparison Review
When it comes to urban commuting, electric scooters are an increasingly popular choice for their portability, ease of use, and eco-friendly nature. Two notable models vying for the spotlight are the Apollo City 2022 and the NIU KQi2 Pro.
The Apollo City 2022 is heralded for its robust build and impressive range. Powered by a 48V 13.2Ah battery, it delivers a maximum range of approximately 28 miles under ideal conditions, making it suitable for longer commutes. Its 500-watt motor allows it to reach speeds of up to 25 miles per hour, ensuring a swift transit. Additionally, the Apollo City is equipped with dual suspension and air-filled tires guaranteeing a smooth ride even on bumpy urban terrain.
In contrast, the NIU KQi2 Pro offers a more minimalist design optimized for the urban rider. It comes with a 365Wh battery that provides a range of up to 25 miles, slightly less than the Apollo City. However, it compensates with a smart Battery Management System to enhance battery longevity. Its top speed caps at 19 miles per hour, powered by a 300-watt motor, which is suitable for most urban environments. The KQi2 Pro also boasts a regenerative braking system that recaptures energy for the battery, giving it an edge in efficiency.
Both scooters offer their own take on rider safety and convenience. The Apollo City boasts a responsive triple braking system – an electronic regenerative front brake, a rear disc brake, and an additional foot brake. Conversely, the NIU KQi2 Pro offers a dual braking system with both electronic and disc brakes. Both units are equipped with bright lights for visibility, but the Apollo City ups the ante with turn signals.
In terms of portability, the NIU KQi2 Pro is lighter at approximately 38.6 pounds, whereas the Apollo City weighs in around 57 pounds, making the KQi2 Pro more suitable for frequent carrying. Both can be folded quickly for convenience during storage or transport.
Ultimately, the decision between the Apollo City 2022 and the NIU KQi2 Pro will depend on the rider's priorities. If range and speed are at the top of the list, the Apollo City may be the preferred choice. However, if portability and smart features are more compelling, the NIU KQi2 Pro could be the better fit for an efficient and manageable commute.
