The shops that fix electric scooters are usually bike shops, powersports and motorcycle shops, and a small number of dedicated scooter repair businesses. Levy’s directory lists 1,379 of them across 32 US metros, all real businesses with real addresses. Pick your metro below, or read on for the repairs worth trying yourself first.
Every metro below has at least six verified shops in the directory. Metros with too few listings do not get a page — a thin local page that lists nothing useful is worse than no page.
Not listed? The full directory covers thousands of towns — browse every city.
These are independent businesses, not Levy stores. Levy does not operate a public repair shop and does not set their prices, hours or stock. Listings come from the Levy shop directory; ratings are Google review data where the listing has it. Call ahead to confirm they will work on your scooter before you carry it across town.
Matching the fault to the right kind of shop saves a wasted trip. This is the part nobody tells you on the phone.
| What is wrong | Who to call | Or fix it yourself |
|---|---|---|
| Flat tire, worn tire, tube | Bike shop. This is their core skill and the most common scooter repair. | Tire size finder |
| Brakes weak, noisy or grabbing | Bike shop. Pads and cables are standard bicycle work. | Brake pads by model |
| Will not charge, or charges slowly | Start with the charger, not the shop. Most of these are not scooter faults. | Charger finder |
| Error code on the display | Read the code first. Many are a loose connector, not a failed component. | Error codes by brand |
| No power, cutting out, motor fault | Powersports or dedicated scooter shop. Bike shops usually decline these. | Controller and motor parts are listed on the parts pages for supported brands. |
| Battery swollen, damaged or hot | Stop riding it and stop charging it. This is not a DIY job at any skill level. | Contact the manufacturer. Do not open a pack. |
A meaningful share of “my scooter is broken” turns out to be a charger, a connector, or a code with a documented fix. Ten minutes here can save a repair bill.
Outside the largest metros, the realistic path is often to order the part and either fit it yourself or pay a general bike shop for the labour only. Levy stocks genuine parts for Levy, the Segway Ninebot Max series and Okai fleet scooters, and every fitment claim on those pages traces to a product page rather than a compatibility chart.
There is a point where the honest advice is to stop spending. A rough guide, and we would rather say it than sell you three repairs:
If you land on replace, a scooter with a removable battery changes this maths permanently: the battery becomes a part you replace instead of a reason to replace the whole vehicle.
In most US cities the answer is a bike shop, a powersports or motorcycle shop, or a small independent scooter repair business. Bike shops handle tires, tubes, brakes, cables and wheel work, which is the majority of scooter repairs. Powersports shops are usually the better bet for electrical faults, controllers and motors. The directory on this page lists real businesses in each of those categories by metro.
Many will, and many will not, so call first. The mechanical parts of a scooter are close enough to a bicycle that a bike mechanic can handle a tire, a tube, a brake pad or a cable. Where shops draw the line is battery and controller work, because of the liability and because they usually cannot source the parts. The honest script on the phone is: "I have an electric scooter with a flat rear tire, do you take those?"
Levy does not publish repair price ranges, because they vary by market, by shop and by scooter, and a made-up range would be worse than no range. What we can tell you is the shape of the decision: labour on a tire or brake job is usually a fraction of the part, while a battery or motor replacement is often a large share of what the scooter is worth. Ask any shop for a quote before authorising work, and ask specifically whether the diagnostic fee comes off the repair.
More than most people expect. Tubes and tires, brake pads, brake cable adjustment, a loose folding hinge and most error-code faults are within reach of a careful owner with basic tools. The two jobs worth handing to someone else are hub-motor wheel work, because the bead is tight and there is a motor cable running into the wheel, and anything involving opening a battery pack, which you should not do at all.
Two options. Ship the scooter to a service centre, which is worth doing for a scooter still worth more than the freight. Or order the part and either fit it yourself or take it to a general bike shop that will do the labour but not source the part. The parts pages on this site list what fits which scooter.
Levy does not run a public repair shop. What Levy does is sell genuine replacement parts for Levy, Segway Ninebot Max and Okai scooters, publish DIY guides for the common faults, and maintain this directory of independent shops.
