Are Electric Scooters Legal in California?

In California, electric scooters are prohibited from traveling at speeds over 15 mph on any public road or bike lane. They are permitted on streets where the speed limit is 25 mph.


A valid driver's license or learners permit is required. A helmet is also required for any riders under the age of 18.
