Levy stocks two chargers for the Segway Ninebot Max series: the standard Max charger, in a 6 ft or 10 ft length from $23.99, and a 250W fast charger with a 42V 5.0A output at $58.99. Both are listed for the Max series. If you ride an ES, E or F series Ninebot, we have not confirmed fitment and will not guess.

Chargers are matched on three things: output voltage, connector, and a current rating your scooter can accept. The table below only lists what Levy has confirmed. An amber row means we have not confirmed it, which is different from saying it will not work.

How to read the label on your existing charger

Every charger brick has its output printed on it, usually on the underside. You are looking for two numbers and one shape.

  • Output voltage — printed as something like “Output: 42V”. This must match. A 42V charger is the correct charger for a 36V scooter; see the FAQ below for why.
  • Output amperage — printed as “2A”, “3A” or “5A”. This sets how fast the pack fills. Going up in amps is a question for your scooter’s manufacturer, not a universal upgrade.
  • Connector — a round barrel pin, a three-prong inline plug, or a proprietary sealed connector. Measure the barrel if you are unsure: Levy’s own scooters use a 5.5 mm outer, 2.1 mm inner single-pin barrel.

Input is the wall side and is almost always 100–240V, meaning the brick works anywhere in the world with the right plug adapter. Input is not the number that decides fitment.

Standard charger vs fast charger — what actually changes

The only thing a higher-amperage charger changes is time. It does not add range, it does not add capacity, and it does not make the battery healthier. What it does do is push more current into the pack, and whether that is fine depends entirely on what the pack and its battery management system are rated for.

A mismatched charger is a fire risk, not a compatibility annoyance

This is the one place on this page where we would rather lose a sale. Lithium packs are charged by a device that deliberately pushes current into them, and the safety margin lives in the charger’s regulation and the pack’s management circuit. If the two are not designed for each other, the failure mode is not “it does not charge”.

  • Buy a charger that names your scooter model on its own product page.
  • Look for a recognised safety certification mark on the brick itself, not just on the listing.
  • Do not adapt a connector to make a charger fit. If it needs an adapter, it is the wrong charger.
  • Charge on a hard surface, not on a bed or a sofa, and not while you are asleep.

Levy does not stock chargers for Xiaomi / Mi, GoTrax, Hiboy, Turboant, NIU, Apollo or the other brands listed on the charger finder. We would rather send you to the manufacturer than sell you a maybe.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my 36V Ninebot battery need a 42V charger?

Because 36V is the nominal voltage of the pack, not its full voltage. A 36V lithium-ion pack is ten cells in series, and a fully charged lithium cell sits at about 4.2 volts. Ten times 4.2 is 42. So the charger has to be able to push the pack up to 42V to fill it. A charger labelled 42V is the correct charger for a 36V scooter, and a charger labelled 36V is not.

Can I use a higher-amp charger to charge faster?

Amperage sets charging speed, and voltage sets compatibility, so a higher-amp charger at the same voltage will generally charge a pack faster. But whether your specific scooter and its battery management system are rated to accept that current is a question for the scooter manufacturer, not for us. Levy stocks both a standard Ninebot Max charger and a 42V 5.0A fast charger; if you are unsure which your scooter is rated for, check with Segway before using the faster one.

Is a third-party charger safe?

The risk with a mismatched charger is real and it is a fire risk, not an inconvenience. Three things must match: output voltage, connector type, and a current rating your scooter can accept. Buy a charger that names your scooter model, look for a recognised safety certification mark on the brick, and do not use an unbranded adapter whose output is only printed on the box.

My charger light stays green and the scooter will not charge. Is the charger dead?

Not necessarily. A charger that never turns red can mean the pack is already full, that the battery management system has cut off because the pack is too cold or too deeply discharged, or that the connector is not fully seated. Work through the charger troubleshooting guide before replacing the charger, because a new charger will not fix a battery-side cutoff.

Does Levy stock chargers for Xiaomi, GoTrax, Hiboy or Turboant scooters?

No. Levy stocks chargers for Levy scooters, for the Segway Ninebot Max series, and for Okai fleet scooters. We do not carry chargers for Xiaomi, GoTrax, Hiboy, Turboant, NIU, Apollo, Unagi, Razor, Varla, Kaabo or Dualtron, and we will not tell you one of ours fits a scooter we have not confirmed it against.
